    The van will take us to the bottom of the San Cristobal hill where we will take a cable car to the summit and visit the San Cristobal virgin.
    The view from the summit is breathtaking and gives a general idea of the Santiago's layout.
    We will take leave of the virgin by way of a funicular train (terrestrial cable car).

    Once at the bottom of the hill we will visit "La Chascona", Pablo Neruda's house.
    Here the museum guide will give you a specialized tour, helping you understand Neruda's love for exotic objects and architecture.
    This visit over, we'll board the van in the direction of the Santa Lucia hill.
    On our way we'll witness the colourful streets of the Bellavista neighbourhood. Streets filled with numerous restaurants and a bustling night life.

    Once arrived at Santa Lucia the van will take us to the it's Plaza Caupolican.

    Across the street from the church lies the street Nueva York (New York). It's home to the "Bolsa de Comercio", Santiago's stock market.
    After having seen Santiago's New York we will take the direction of it's Palace, the "Palacio de la Moneda" and bordering "La Plaza de la Constitución".

    From here we will take Morande street and Catedral street to finally arrive at la "Plaza de Armas".
    On our way to la Plaza we will pass by various monuments.
    The Tribunal of Justice, the ex National Congress building, the Museum of Precolombine Art...
    Arriving at the "Plaza de Armas" you will come upon quite a sight. You will be introduced to the "Iglesia Catedral", the "Correo Central" or post office building, the "Palacio de la Real Audiencia" and the "Casa Colorada" or coloured house.
    The "Plaza de Armas" visit will be our last and from there we'll take the company van back to the hotel.

    The transfer takes us to the southern edges of the national park. We'll drive 60 km on Highway 258, passing Mascardi, Gutierrez and Guillelmo lakes. In a low-lying depression known as Pampa del Toro or Bull's Plain, we turn west for the final 10 km until we reach Steffen Lake. We'll take in the safety chat from our guides, gather our gear and head out on the river in our rafts.

    On a beach on the river's shore we'll have lunch. Light, nutritious and fresh food is prepared to help refuel our energy. After lunch, we board the rafts again and head into the river's most active section. The rapids here reach a Class II. During the summer months, the transparency of the river will be too tempting not to jump in for a swim!

    In the afternoon, at an old sawmill at the small settlement at Paraje Villegas, our bus waits. After a delightful snack, we head back into the city.

    We drive for 70 km to the south of the national park along Highway 258, passing Gutierrez, Mascardi and Guillelmo lakes en route. At the Villegas River we head west on a gravel road for 30 km until we reach TIERRAVENTURA, our base camp.

    We'll recharge our energy after the long journey with a delicious breakfast. Then we gather our gear – neoprene wet suits, dry jackets, life jackets and helmets are all necessary. We'll listen to the safety talk from our guides and then get ready to hit the water.

    The Manso in this section runs through a deep canyon, with the Bastion Mountain at our side throughout the entire descent, and majestic waterfalls cascading off Bastion's steep slopes. The "Velvet Canyon" is the last moment of tranquility. We'll have just passed it when we meet "The First Rapid" where it is made clear that the calm is behind us and the action has started! With short breaks in-between, we'll begin to run a chain of rapids that range from entertaining Class IIs to violent Class III+ like "Devil's Intestine" and "Relax".

    "Forward", the guide insists, as the team paddles without rest. The raft falls into a hole that spits us out and shows us the force of the Manso in its final leaps towards the border. The Safety Kayaker is at our side throughout, providing optimal levels of safety and security.

    "International" is the Class II rapid that announces our arrival at the border and the end of our rafting adventure.

    Back in dry clothes, we'll drive back to TIERRAVENTURA where we'll have lunch. It's an incredible traditional barbecue known as an "asado criollo" that will refuel our energy. With non-stop stories of adventure, and reliving the day's excitement, the group has met its day's quota of adrenaline and it's time to head back to Bariloche.

    In Patagonia, the fishing season opens in November and closes at the end of April. During November and December, when the rivers are running high, we find many large trout, both rainbow and brown, returning to the lakes. The chances of a trophy catch are great!

    Long summer days give us plenty of time for Dry Flies, Caddis and Mayfly Hatches, keeping the trout active.

    March and April, the end of the season, is the most tranquil and picturesque time for fishing. With low river levels, we can fish with light equipment to catch trout making their way back out of the lake. During this time of year, we can fish in the most popular rivers without seeing another person for many days.

    Limay River:
    The Limay River is a great treasure with plenty of delightful channels and islands. Its name comes from an aboriginal language and means crystal waters. It’s exactly this – a fast-moving and high-volume river with true clarity. This famous river is known for its large browns and rainbows that can be tough to fish but are definitely worth the effort.

    There are different options to try your luck, and depending on the time of year and river levels, there are many possibilities for fishing locations. To ease the process, we organize an outing with a fly cast guide who has a lifetime of experience in the rivers of Patagonia. All equipment is provided.
